Friends of Confederate Reunion Grounds State Historic Site
On the edge of the Navasota River, Confederate Reunion Grounds State Historic Site commemorates a place where Confederate Civil War veterans and families reunited from 1889–1946. Today, it remains a gathering place for living history events and family reunions, and features an 1893 dance pavilion, Civil War-era cannon, and ruins of structures from the “Roaring ‘20s” and Mexia Oil Boom.
The Cowboy Western Club
The Cowboy was built in the late 70's. It is one of the oldest Honky Tonks in Texas. The Cowboy has hosted some of the top artists of the times. Dancers from all over have enjoyed our 2400 square foot dance floor for years.

Have a Bite at These Amazing Local Restaurants
The Farm House is located on highway 84 East in Mexia. They serve quality food Texas-style. The menu includes catfish, hamburgers and steaks. Many locals dine here.
Taqueria is a nice, newly decorated Mexican restaurant located on highway 171 in Mexia. The beer is really cold and the service is excellent as you enjoy the tex/mex style cuisine.
Coffee Cabaret is a lovely little restaurant located on Paris Street in Mexia, just across from the library. This quaint little shop is an excellent place to dine with your friends. The Reuben is to die for, and the chicken salad, broccoli grape salad and pimento cheese can’t be beat! Delicious desserts are served as well. Hours are from 8am to 3pm.
Joe Friday’s Diner takes us back to the 50s and 60s era with its chrome-style tables with the black and white checkered floor. Located on highway 14 in Mexia, it’s a great location for a meeting with old friends. Great burgers, steaks and salads are served here along with some awesome desserts!
Frankie’s Pasta and Pizza is another local favorite. Served here are a variety of pastas, sandwiches, salads and pizza. You may also enjoy a fine glass of wine, or a nice chilled beer with your meal. Family and friends gather here often during the evening to enjoy the Italian-style cuisine.
